On May 23, the community of Juneau was invited to meet the Hacker/NorthWind design team and hear about the latest plans for the New Juneau Arts and Culture Center. A stimulating visual presentation of plans for the exterior and interior of the New JACC gave the 50 local citizens who attended a chance to not only see what this community gathering place may look like, they were also encouraged to comment, ask questions and share their ideas.
A lively conversation ensued, with musicians in the audience most concerned about the acoustics, the painters in the room concerned about the size of the gallery and the generalists attending concerned about security measures, on-going parking issues and storage capabilities.
This phase of design will continue until the end of June, when a finalized set of drawings will be ready to be transformed into construction documents.
Overall, people were highly impressed with the design for what will be a “must see” building in the heart of Juneau.
