The Avista Foundation, the community investment arm of the parent company of Juneau’s Alaska Electric Light and Power Company, has pledged $250,000 to construct the New JACC.

“Avista has been talking with us about the New JACC since early 2015, so we are very excited about this significant donation, their commitment to Juneau and their recognition of the importance of this landmark facility to Juneau and the state,” said Peter Jurasz, co-chair of Partnership, Inc., the non-profit organization building the facility.

Dennis Vermillion, President of Avista Utilities, explained, “Avista Foundation understands that arts drive the culture of creativity and innovation that is essential to a vibrant community, and we are honored to be part of the development of Juneau’s new arts complex. He said he also hoped Avista’s example encourages other private sector giving to the project.

President of AEL&P, Connie Hulbert, said her company is the oldest in Juneau and takes great pride in making it a better place to live. “This year Juneau was named one of the most arts vibrant small cities in America, and we want to help continue to build on this reputation for excellence,” she said.
