Thank You For Your Support During the Election

As you may know, a recent initiative on the City and Borough of Juneau municipal ballot to grant $4.5M to the New JACC unfortunately failed to pass, with a 31.4% voter turnout. First and most importantly, we want to convey to you that, despite the election results, The Partnership remains absolutely committed to building the New JACC.

The Partnership Board and staff are working closely with the Juneau Arts and Humanities Council (the Council) to address issues raised in the community during this election process. These include the need for more public awareness about the work of the Council, the mission of the New JACC, and how the two organizations are connected; the relevancy of the project in the local economy; and the social, community-wide benefits of programs that the Council delivers. We will expand and solidify our base of supporters, and ask for their involvement in mapping our way forward toward construction.

The Capital Campaign Committee continues to implement a robust fundraising plan, including soliciting support from corporations, businesses, foundations, government sources, and individuals. We are committed to success in this endeavor; we hope that your commitment equals ours. We will stay in touch and provide updates, beginning in the next few weeks.

Thank you again for all you have donated, done, said, and written thus far in support of the New JACC. We invite you to send any questions or ideas concerning the status of the project to Executive Director Katharine Heumann at katharine@jahc.org.
